So many people have felt the RIP Fitness effect, here’s a selection of members who wish to share their experiences.
"Over a two year period I sustained a run of nasty injuries to my left leg – an Achilles tendon rupture and a total knee reconstruction – and my body, mind and health were not in the best condition. I was frustrated with so many things – a poor fitness level particularly a weakness in my left leg, a reliance on painkillers, the extra weight I was carrying and my inability to get motivated. I felt old before my time.
On meeting Dave, the first thing he advised was for me to see an osteopath as he wasn’t going to embark on any serious activity with me until I had sorted out my structural alignment and my pronounced ‘hobble’. This piece of advice was so reassuring and has made all the difference to what I have been able to achieve.
I’ve been training with Dave since October 2008 and over that time have seen a marked improvement in my strength, stamina, range of movement, balance and overall fitness – I feel more positive, flexible and toned, and importantly I am walking properly! I’ve also changed my attitude to how and what I eat and now incorporate a range of regular exercise into my lifestyle.
This is all done to Dave’s direction and guidance. There are so many things that set him apart, head and shoulders above other personal trainers – his integrity, his enthusiasm, his knowledge, his ability to inspire and his understanding of me as an individual."

"I found myself stuck in a fitness rut having succumbed to the mid-life spread and fallen into bad habits i.e. minimal exercise and poor eating habits, primarily due to spending all day in an office job. In my twenties and thirties I had been an active climber and had been very fit and toned. I longed to get back into shape and achieve the climbing grades I could when I was younger, but lacked the motivation.
Since October 2008, I have had weekly personal training sessions with Dave. From the start, his emphasis was on achieving sustained, gradual progress by adopting a programme that combines heart pumping activities like running and cycling with free weights and core strength routines to achieve the best long-term effects. He has also introduced me to the benefits of ‘warming up’ and stretching before and after exercise that help me avoid muscle injury and improve my flexibility and muscle tone – which typically most blokes don’t bother with!
My climbing ability has improved dramatically as has my ability to manage technically complex moves. I am in no doubt that my personal training sessions have radically improved not only my fitness, but also stamina, flexibility and my understanding of the body. I’ve regained my motivation, as exercise is now a normal feature of my day. And I am well on the way to regaining a six pack again!"

"Hi my name is Bisi. I have been training with Dave Mcqueen for more than 11 years. When I started training I was really unfit but the encouragement you receive from others doing circuit classes and Dave is fantastic and motivational. Gradually I could see my fitness level improving and through doing circuits I discovered the joy of running.
I have been on many RIP Fitness events including trips to Lanzarote, Paris, Centre Parcs and Butlins to name a few. The vibe is welcoming and they are family orientated and every year I go to Butlins. I have always taken my children.
Rip Fitness is about having fun, but working hard and getting fit at the same time. I have now come full circle and I want to encourage others in the same way that I was encouraged when I first joined the RIP Fitness family.
I am now a qualified gym instructor, running coach and circuits instructor."

"Hi,I have trained with Dave for over 7 years and Mr. Mcqueen has been a great mentor and coach, he is always there to encourage and inspire through tough times and celebrate and elevate through good times. One of the many ways he manages to achieve this is through the fantastic planning of his RIP Fitness events. These events are second to none, they are jam-packed with activities that are interactive, healthy and most of all FUN.
RIP events caters for all ages and there is something for everyone, one of my favourites is that they are not all held in England there are events that take place abroad."

"I have been a member of Dave McQueen's fitness classes for over 17 years. His classes are very well presented and highly motivational.
The number of years that I have been with him will suggest how good he is. The exercise regime built within the classes have helped me to achieve the results and most importantly retain them.
The classes consists of a variety of people of all age groups, but he also has one-2-one sessions. This enables him to know and understand the needs and capabilities of each individual so that the individual achieves their desired goal. Although his classes are tough, they remain extremely enjoyable and entertaining and why his classes have continued to grow over the years, with members remaining loyal.
He also organises weekend events, called 'Real Intensive Pleasure' or RIP. Although they are intensive, they are very well organised, and thoroughly enjoyable. These events are so successful, that membership has grown and still continues to grow.I would recommend Dave McQueen's classes to anyone wanting to either lose those extra pounds, tone up or to get fit"

"I have known and trained with Dave Mc Queen for 16 years, and have affectionately earned the nick name 'Felix', I have been going on his fitness weekenders and other supporting events during this time.
I look forward to the RIP annual events and arrange the Itinerary around my own schedule, and attend each event with equal enthusiasm as if it were my first!
The classes can be challenging, however I look upon this as a positive aspect, plus what you put in to the classes reflects greatly on what you get out of them. I have been to gyms where people are wearing the latest fitness attire and are happily walking on a treadmill reading a book! They don't even break a sweat. RIP works on a completely different concept i.e. hard work equals results. All ladies need is a decent sports bra and trainers fit for purpose.
On the weekenders the classes on offer are interesting, diverse and cater for all tastes, a few examples of the classes available are belly dancing, step aerobics, circuit training, spinning , morning runs, morning walks and yoga to name but a few. The fitness instructors, who take the classes, are equally as professional as Dave, they bring their individual knowledge and talent, with so many different classes on offer, it’s the ideal opportunity to try something new.
All RIP events are family friendly, so children have plenty to do as well. Everybody is made to feel welcome. I always make a conscious effort as a RIP representative to make new comers especially welcome. Its in my blood now, I look forward to 2010.
I have also had the pleasure of experiencing another service Dave offers, which is 'one to one personal training'. One to one training sessions are tailored to a client’s individual needs and goals, Dave applies and uses proven training methods and his wealth of knowledge of the industry, this ensures that you see rapid results in the shortest of time. The only thing you need to bring along is a positive 'can do' attitude, 'can not' simply does not exist in his dictionary. To match that Dave comes armed with a 'no fail' 100% professional attitude, he is able to provide motivation and support throughout, in addition to proper technical instruction, he will also keep records of clients exercise sessions to help maximise progress, and also advise on how to modify lifestyle outside the gym to improve fitness".

"I have been training with Dave for almost 4 years. I first started doing box fit and circuits and of more recent steps. I also did group personal training course as well.
Dave works his clients very hard and aims to get the best out of everyone. You know you have had a workout when you have attended one of his classes. He ensures everyone is applying the correct techniques, if not attends to you. His class is all about fun and he creates a great atmosphere within his classes. He also welcomes new comers and always talks to them after his classes. The people who attend are very friendly and help others in the class.
I have attended several of Dave's events, mainly his Butlins weekenders which takes place every September and his event at Bosworth Hall. They are very well organised and great fun. He has other events which take place such as visiting Lanzarote each year, but I am yet to attend this one, but hope to in the near future and Centre Parcs, which I am informed is for the die hard trainers.
Dave always asks for feedback, and when given he does listen and address concerns to help make all of his events better.
I am sure you will get a lot of people who will confirm that they are happy with having Dave as his trainer".

"I started training with Dave McQueen in 1996. A friend brought me to one of his circuit classes, and I haven't looked back since!
Dave's unique style of motivating us during training has enabled me to reach a level of fitness that I never believed I could achieve.
Besides the training sessions at the fitness centres, Dave organises several fitness events throughout the year that are not to be missed. They are both social and fitness events, suitable for people of all fitness levels. During the days you can take part in a wide variety of different fitness classes, training as much as you like. Alternatively you can spend the day relaxing and preparing yourself for one of Dave's legendary theme parties at night! A particularly memorable 70's theme is definitely a night I will always remember".

"I have been training with Dave for nearly 10 years and i know it has been this long, as he was bald when we met, and now the locks, oh my word, so long and all so natural ....anyway, style?? well defiantly unique to him, does it work? yes it does.I have lost two dress sizes and it is was all due to the intense circuit classes that I love and dearly miss
he has a high adrenalin energy that makes you believe that you can push that extra mile. I have achieved a level of fitness that I thought I would never reach.Dave pushes you to the max and beyond and I dread going to each class because of the difficulty levels, but he has made me believe that i can push myself and improve.
I have tried many classes but this is the best one for me and it is working out with a great bunch of people.

I have attended many events, holidays etc with RIP Fitness and it is good fun".
"I have been training with Dave McQueen for around 15 years, I love his classes, serious hard work but fun too! If you want to good all round fitness then Dave is your man but if you don’t want pain then stay away!!
I have attended many of RIP’s events over the years, most recently I went to Trinidad Carnival and Grenada for 2 weeks on a trip organised by RIP. What a great holiday! Would recommend RIP’s weekenders or holidays to anyone".

"My first session with Dave was about three years ago now, I entered a big room full of new faces not knowing what to expect and then Dave spoke.
WOW..... his energy, his exercises, his humour made the session fun and I felt totally energised the pace was great the exercises Dave used were then followed by an explanation of benefits to the body, what muscles are being used and the correct way to carry out the move, the group dynamics were great and I didn't have to think twice about it I was back the following week and more or less every week since.
It was during these sessions Dave talked about the fitness weekends he organises, so I got together with some girls from the group and booked a room for four, we were now committed and unsure what we had just signed up to and parted with money of course.
At the weekender the daily programmes were well planned for all abilities and you could do as much or as little as you liked, (we obviously wanted to feel pain and did as much as possible)
If you had any energy left RIP also organised themed evening entertainment so you could party till the early hours, which again I felt the need to punish myself with!
It was great how Rip catered for the children with the whole RIP Fitness experience and also holds other events through the year.
The staff all committed, the venues ideal for the purpose and the clientel the events attracted were all friendly from all walks of life and backgrounds and focused on fitness in a relaxed way to enjoy at their own pace. Over the years I do feel part of a big happy extended family at the events and I have introduced many friends and colleagues to Rip Fitness."
May it long continue, well done Dave!!!Shadna Miah
